HURSTBRIDGE RAILWAY LINE 1912-2012
23rd & 24th June 2012

Hurstbridge Railway Line is 100 years old this year, and Nillumbik Historical Society will be holding an exhibition as part of the celebrations in 2012.

We will be displaying our historic photographs of the railway, telling the story of the building of the railway extension from Eltham through Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen.

Photographs of locomotives and incidents on the rail line will be included.

There will be a display for the Flying Scotsman which was brought to Australia in the 1980's.

There will be a sausage sizzle and devonshire teas available for purchase.

Please come along and become part of this important time in our history.
Members, friends and anyone who has an interest will be made very welcome. The cottage and barn have open fires and a wood heater so you will be warm and cosy.

Ellis Cottage is at 10 Nillumbik Square Diamond Creek. However, best access is off Main Hurstbridge Road before you reach Wattle Glen, just past the nursery under the power lines that cross the road where you will find a brown "Historic Ellis Cottage" sign. There is ample parking at the precinct.
